Alpakkasnacks

A good axe!

Et par furubusker. Siden dette må hives over et to meter høyt gjerde er det kjekt om det ikke er for stort…

A couple of pines. As we have to toss these over a two meter fence, they should not be too large…

Hiv det over og du får glade alpakkaer!

Toss it over the fence and you get happy alpacas!

Flere glade alpakkaer.

More happy alpacas.

Alpaca Snacks

It has been a quiet weekend with the animals. Apart from the normal alpaca business, we have mostly done indoor chores. But today we got a nice surprise visit from Sweden. It is always nice to talk about alpacas and our experiences with them so most of the day disappeared quickly.
At the end of the day it was time for some alpaca goodies, and Rolf went outside with the axe, and above you see how to make Sunday goodies for alpacas :-)

Ooh they alpacas must have liked that!!

Mark sa...

It's interesting that they like pine needles. Not something you get on the altiplano, I wouldn't think.

How much longer will you have snow?

Mark: Pellets, Camelibra, vitamin shots, and so on, are not something they are used to getting on the Altiplano either ;-)

The snow usually disappears in April, but we sometimes have snowfall in May as well. You never know.

That is very interesting! As I only have one such tree which we keep as an outdoor Christmas tree I must keep it away from the alpacas hungry stretch!

We know that they also like the new shoots from African proteas!

Very interesting - we could have made better use of our Christmas Tree when we had finished with it!
Lovely log pile!
How deep does the snow get? Does it cause problems getting around - a few centimetres and we come to a standstill!

We have about 50cm snow, and it's not a problem for us or the alpacas. Last year we had 1.5m of snow and the alpacas could not move around unless we cleared their path, naturally :-)
